Rules
- Be respectful and courteous to your fellow players.
- No godmodding, no infomodding, no fourth-walling without explicit permission.
- IC is not OOC; keep them separate.
- Communicate. Make an effort to resolve problems with your fellow players.
- Obey general good roleplaying behavior. Don't perform any of usual RP sins. You know the stuff.
- Players are permitted to snicker, chortle, or guffaw at any use of the term 'Chaos Control'. We knew what we were doing when we chose it.
- Applications will open on a monthly cycle.
At some point the mod team can and likely will put a player cap in place, in order to preserve the level of dynamic interaction this game is intended to have. However, the player cap will only affect whether applications open or not -- if they are open, all apps will be reviewed regardless of how over the cap that might put us. We'll also have an open app round before instituting the cap. In other words, don't worry about getting in NOW or forever missing your chance.
- Players may app up to three characters.
This might change at some point depending on how active and large the game gets, but it's where we are to start with.
- All original or canon character types are welcome. Characters cannot be apped as AU, CR- or otherwise. Specific exceptions are detailed in the Game Guide & FAQ.
Characters must have sufficient canon (if canon characters) and quality to be successful. Some niche characters may be unappable.
- You may app a setting-native original character.
- In Hyperion Star, characters make AC through either Divinity Drops and Chaos Control. Characters must participate in one or the other.
This requirement is to maintain the style and tone of the game, provide incentive for players to interact with the plot and the game world, and allow the mod team to determine what the characters have focused on and update the setting accordingly. Also it's literally why they're here -- if you don't do these things, the gods will put you into cold-storage rather than spend their precious Divinity on you.
- To be eligible for activity, a Divinity Drop or Chaos Control thread must have at least five comments from your character if the thread began in the activity month, or ten comments from your character if the thread began in the previous month, five of which are from the current month. Threads which began before that are not eligible for activity. A thread cannot be used twice for activity.
- Divinity Drop threads do not need to be in the monthly Divinity Drop log to be eligible. The same applies to Chaos Control threads, if Chaos Control is an actual log in any given month. (It is always available for player use at any time, and typically not centralized.) However, we would like to see open posts and top-levels, and may ask for one if we're concerned your character might not be accessible to the playerbase at large.
- If you do not complete AC, you will receive a strike. To clear this strike, you must turn in double AC the following month.
- These rules are not comprehensive.
We may intervene if we see, or have brought to our attention, activity that is consistently with one or two other players only, consistent in closed threads that offer others no chance to interact with your character, consistently dropped threads or last-minute threads or other situations that may warrant concerns that you are not regularly interacting with the game.
That being said, just play and you'll be fine.
